About

Your osteopath in La Conversion

Alexandre Dessaux is a qualified osteopath holding a Master from HES-SO Fribourg, registered with the Register of Empirical Medicine (RME). Born and raised in Lutry in the Lavaux wine region of Canton Vaud, he founded the Centre Ostéo La Conversion in La Conversion, just above Lutry. His unconventional background dual CFC in mechanics and mechatronics, sports (Pully Basket in his youth, Lausanne 10 km), volunteer firefighter with SDIS Ouest-Lavaux since 2018 gives him a unique approach to the human body.

SDIS Ouest-Lavaux firefighter

Since 2018, Alexandre is a firefighter outside of work hours with SDIS Ouest-Lavaux, based at the Lutry fire station. The fire and rescue service calls on qualities: composure under pressure, teamwork, dedication and physical endurance, that indirectly enrich his clinical practice.

Athletic commitment and understanding of the body in motion

Pully Basket player in his youth

For eight years, Alexandre played basketball at Pully Basket, a leading club in the Lake Geneva region. This experience taught him load management, injury prevention (ankles, knees, shoulders), the importance of recovery and team sports.

Running and the Lausanne 10K

A finisher of the Lausanne 10K, Alexandre is well versed in the biomechanical demands of running: pronation, runner's knee, iliotibial band syndrome and plantar fasciitis.

Swimming and sailing on Lake Geneva

Swimming and sailing on Lake Geneva complete his profile as a versatile athlete. Swimming develops a keen awareness of muscular chains, pelvic rotation and breathing. Sailing demands complex coordination, constant core engagement and balance management in changing conditions, all invaluable lessons for understanding patients who practise water sports.

An unconventional path rooted in the region

Roots: Lutry, Lavaux, Lake Geneva

Lutry, a small wine-growing town on the shores of Lake Geneva between Lausanne and Vevey, is Alexandre's hometown. He grew up watching the Lavaux vineyards, sailing on the waters of Lac Léman and playing sports with local youth. This deep connection to the area explains his choice to establish his practice in La Conversion, at the heart of a region he knows and appreciates.

Dual CFC and career change

Before becoming an osteopath, Alexandre earned a dual CFC in mechanics and mechatronics. This initial technical training is far from trivial: it taught him to think in terms of structures, forces, energy transfer and complex systems. Applying these concepts to the human body with its bony levers, muscular cables and hydraulic fluids proved natural and deeply coherent. His career change into healthcare was the result of deep reflection on what truly inspires him: the human body, movement, performance and care. Osteopathy emerged as the perfect synthesis of his technical skills and his desire to help people.

Osteopathic training - Master HES-SO Fribourg

A Master of Science recognised in Switzerland

Alexandre earned his Master of Science (Master) in osteopathy at HES-SO Fribourg, one of Switzerland's most reputable universities of applied sciences. This university-level Master's degree is recognised by the Federal Department of Home Affairs (FDHA) and Swiss supplementary insurance providers, guaranteeing his patients a level of training that meets Switzerland's most exacting standards. The HES-SO Master programme in osteopathy covers fundamental sciences (anatomy, physiology, pathology), osteopathic techniques (structural, myofascial, visceral, craniosacral) and clinical research. It prepares osteopaths to work within an integrated healthcare framework, collaborating with physicians and other health professionals.

The osteopathic method: a holistic, hands-on approach

Osteopathy is built on the founding principle of Andrew Taylor Still (1828–1917): the body is a functional unit with a natural capacity for self-healing. The osteopath's role is to remove obstacles to this self-healing by restoring the mobility of structures.

  • Structural techniques for joints and vertebrae
  • Myofascial techniques for muscles and fascia
  • Visceral techniques for organs and their mobility
  • Craniosacral techniques for the cranial bones and sacrum
  • Soft tissue techniques for tendons and ligaments

Official qualifications and accreditations

Registration with the Health Professions Register (RME)

Alexandre Dessaux is registered with the Health Professions Register (RME), the Swiss federal register of qualified health professionals in complementary medicine. This registration is a prerequisite for reimbursement by supplementary insurance and certifies that his training meets federal requirements.

Philosophy of care

Listening first

Every patient arrives with a story, a unique body and specific constraints. The first consultation devotes time to understanding not only the pain but also the patient's life context, habits, activities and goals.

The body as a whole

Pain is never isolated. A painful knee may originate from a hip restriction or lumbar compensation. Osteopathy treats the entire body, not just the painful area.

Patient autonomy

The goal is not to create therapeutic dependency, but to help each patient better understand their body and learn to take care of it. Every consultation concludes with practical advice tailored to daily life.
