General osteopathy and musculoskeletal disorders

Musculoskeletal disorders are the leading cause of work absence in Switzerland (Source: Federal Statistical Office, 2025). Osteopathy provides a holistic, drug-free and lasting approach to these conditions.

Back pain and low back pain

Back pain affects approximately 80% of Swiss adults at some point in their lives. Low back pain - pain in the lumbar region - can be acute (lumbago) or chronic, mechanical or radicular. Osteopathy identifies joint restrictions, muscle tension and postural compensations that maintain the pain, and gently corrects them.

  • Acute lumbago and muscle spasms
  • Disc herniations and protrusions
  • Sacroiliac joint pain
  • Postural pain related to desk work
  • Consequences of falls or trauma

Neck pain, torticollis, headaches and bruxism (teeth grinding)

Neck pain particularly affects people who work in prolonged sitting positions. Acute torticollis, neck tension and cervicogenic headaches are very effectively treated by osteopathy. Techniques on the cervical vertebrae, the base of the skull and the neck muscles provide rapid and lasting relief. Migraines linked to musculoskeletal tension and cranial restrictions respond well to the craniosacral osteopathic approach.

Sciatica and femoral neuralgia

Sciatica is a pain that radiates along the sciatic nerve, from the buttock down the leg, sometimes reaching the foot. It can result from a herniated disc, joint irritation or muscle contracture (piriformis syndrome). Osteopathy releases compressive structures and relieves nerve irritation without systematic recourse to painkillers.

Frequently asked questions about our services

The vast majority of techniques are painless. Some joint manipulations may cause a slight sensation of pressure, immediately followed by relief. Techniques for children and pregnant women are particularly gentle.
An acute problem is often resolved in 1 to 3 sessions. Chronic disorders usually require 3 to 6 sessions, followed by quarterly or half-yearly maintenance.
Absolutely. Osteopathy is complementary to conventional medicine. It does not replace medical treatments but effectively complements them.
